Most people never have to choose.

Where to live. Who to be with. What to work on.

For a lot of people, these aren't real decisions. They're defaults.

But every person I know who built a life in a foreign country made a real trade at some point. Left something behind. Chose this over that.

That's not a sacrifice story.

It's a selection filter.

People who've paid that cost think differently. Clearer about what they want. Less attached to the path handed to them.
